CHATHAM-KENT, ON, CANADA – August 17, 2022: UCB 89.3 welcomed over 7000 locals for Flight Fest – a Canadian aviation event, concert, and community-wide worship service to enjoy the free weekend affair filled with static aircraft displays, vintage planes, children’s activities, and live music. The “Hope is in the Air” themed event was a free weekend of family-filled fun where attendees braved the hottest weekend of the summer to attend 2 monumental days, August 6th & 7th.
Event organizers raised $150,000 dollars in sponsorship to put on the completely free 2-day event. Donations of over $90,000 was distributed amongst three national charities: UCB Canada, Hope Air, and Mission Aviation Fellowship and 5 local charities. In addition, a free-will offering was collected and donated to a local charity, Loads of Love, who are helping Ukranian Refugee efforts.
On Saturday, the community came out to see Christian Artist, Dan Bremnes, who started off the evening concert sharing the stage with Canadian Eagles Original Tribute Band - Hotel California, and Canadian Country Artist, Michelle Wright. On Sunday, Canadian Christian artist and Six-time covenant award winner, Brooke Nicholls, took the stage to close the weekend in praise.
An unprecedented turn out for interdenominational event – attendence for an outdoor worship service themed “Hope is in the Air” sparked talks that it was the best attended service ever seen in the area. “It was so exciting to see the community enjoying themselves and especially seeing the church break down barriors by coming together in unity for the first time in 2 years! It was beautiful to see… the people just kept coming and coming!” said, Crystal, UCB’s 89.3 Community Promotions Specialist.
